Places to Beat the San Diego Heat

Beat the San Diego Heat with this Guide #sandiego

It’s hot in San Diego right now. Real hot. If you’re ready to shave your head and move to Alaska, don’t despair! We have some awesome ways to stay cool. Enjoy these great places in San Diego to beat the heat (without breaking the bank too):

  • Balboa Park. Balboa Park has a lot of museums, shaded areas, restaurants, and more fun stuff. Free Tuesdays are a great time to check out the Park for residents and military and for seniors, the Senior Lounge is a good place to relax.
  • Beaches. We definitely have lots to pick from including Mission Beach and La Jolla Cove (the Cave Store is a cool spot to check out in La Jolla Cove).
  • Brewery Tours. San Diego is the place for craft beer so take advantage! Brewery tours are surprisingly cheap and a lot of fun.
  • Cool Zones. Lots of places around the county are designated Cool Zones (mostly libraries); Central Library is a great place to sit and relax, have a bite to eat, shop or attend an event.
  • Movies. Cheap movies at Regal Rancho del Rey or Mission Valley Ultrastar.
  • Public Pools. The Kroc Center is awesome.
  • Malls. Plaza Bonita, Parkway Plaza or how about ice skating at UTC?
  • Parks. We love the Waterfront Park!
  • Cedros Avenue. Shop here in Solana Beach to get out while staying relatively cool.
  • Hotels. We love relaxing in hotel lobbies because all the major ones have a nice coffee spot at least and at best, shopping, lounges and restaurants.
  • Casinos. Casinos are a destination in themselves. Great to spend a day or weekend and beat the heat.
