Here are 10 fun things to do in San Diego this weekend (May 17 and 18, 2014):

  1. Get artsy at the North Park Festival of Arts on Saturday. And by get artsy, we mean enjoy art, buy art and get creative on your own with some fun activities!
  2. Exhibits. Opening this weekend: After Ansel Adams at Museum of Photographic Arts, The Natural World at San Diego Natural History Museum, Architectural Appeal at Fallbrook Art Center, and Artist’s Guild Show at Fallbrook Art Center. Closing this weekend: Prix Pictet: Power at Museum of Photographic Arts.
  3. Clean up with San Diego River Days this weekend. This annual celebration includes activities, cleanups and more to beautify and enjoy the San Diego River.
  4. Bring the kids to KidsFest San Diego all weekend. Kids will LOVE you for all the activities and more going on at Liberty Station with this festival.
  5. Walk for a cause at the Mito Walk and Roll on Saturday. The walk and activities scheduled all help raise awareness and funds for the amazing UCSD Mitochondrial and Metabolic Disease Center.
  6. Enjoy some goombas at the Sicilian Festival in Little Italy. The Sunday festival of all things Sicilian is sure to bring out the community for food, entertainment and more.
  7. Pick up an antique or two at the La Mesa Antique Street Faire on Sunday. This annual event is the best place to find antiques from jewelry to furniture to cool old tennis racquets (one day I’ll have a whole wall of them!).
  8. Be a pirate at the Maritime Museum of San Diego’s Pirate Days all weekend. There’ll be so many cool activities for kids and families, and you seriously can be a pirate.
  9. Drink up at the Brew Rendezvous in Maker’s Quarter. For local craft brewers, food and more, go to this hot area of San Diego on Sunday.
  10. Hang ten at some of this weekend’s cool surf themed events. We like the following: Meet the Legends Surf Classic on Saturday and The Boardroom Show on Saturday and Sunday.
