Confession: we have a slight bias toward the Museum of Photographic Arts. We love photography and try to appreciate every single exhibit we can get our hands on.
The Museum has two main exhibits going on right now, with the Prix Pictet: Power exhibit being the larger of the two. It’s an annual exhibit/competition that centers on a theme for its participants every year. This fourth year uses the theme ‘power’ which took many different photographers in many different directions with their artistry.
Of the 12 top photographers, there are 56 photos of oil spills, the homes of women in power in the Middle East, everyday scenes in Chernobyl (aka where it’s deemed too dangerous to live) and more.
This exhibit is incredibly thought provoking and we love that. Our teacher friend may even use the exhibit as the spur for her middle schoolers to learn about environmental issues, and that’s kind of amazing.
