Exhibits come and exhibits go but one thing remains the same…it’s October! Ok, that was a pretty lame intro. All jokes aside, there’s nothing lame about the great exhibits going on right now around San Diego. Check out the list of top exhibits to see this month in SD:

  1. Please Be Seated, Mingei International Museum. If you like interior design or anything home related, you’ll enjoy this exhibit full of chairs and other seating apparatuses. Opened October 5th.
  2. OMA Art Auction 2013, Oceanside Museum of Art. See some great art and put your bid in to win pieces from the exhibit! Just opened and it goes thru the 26th.
  3. Striking Claim, Museum of Photographic Arts. If you love supporting everything California, visit MOPA for their new Californian photographers exhibit. Opens October 8th.
  4. Feast, The New Children’s Museum. Food: get interactive with, learn more about, play with, and more. Opens October 13th.
  5. The Very Large Array, Museum of Contemporary Art San Diego: Downtown. This is an AMAZING exhibit. So many artists, so many types of art. The piece above by ACAMONCHI is our favorite. See it before it closes on the 13th.
  6. Women, War, and Industry, The San Diego Museum of Art. View some 20th century art as it relates to (you guessed it!) women, war and industry. Opens October 19th.
  7. My City, Your City: 8th Annual Youth Exhibition, Museum of Photographic Arts. You’ll be dazzled by some of the best youth photographers of San Diego. Opens October 19th.
  8. 16th Annual Galaxy of Glass, Fallbrook Art Center. This exhibit features glass art of many different types by Southern California artists. Closes October 20th.
  9. A VALYA Retrospective, Visions Art Museum. See some great pieces from the 30 year career of this famous fiber artist. Closes October 20th.
  10. 7 Print Makers, Spanish Village Art Center. So excited for this free print exhibit at Gallery 21 of the Village in Balboa Park. October 9-October 21.
  11. Best of Nature Photography, San Diego Natural History Museum. 73 amazing photos from nature. How can you lose? Just opened.
  12. Matthew Cusick, Lux Art Institute. Matthew takes interesting material like old maps and makes beautiful art pieces. See some of his creations before this exhibit closes on October 26th.
  13. From the Vault, San Diego Museum of Man. This exhibit’s great if you want to see a wide variety of items from the Museum’s collection. Closes the 27th.
  14. First Impressions, USD. See all the recent acquisitions of the gallery. Opened last month.
  15. 100+ Years of Coronado Yachting, Coronado Museum of History and Art. This is a great exhibit showing the history of yachting in Coronado.
  16. Viva El Mariachi Femenil, Women’s Museum of California. Celebrate women in mariachi bands. Cool! Closes October 27th.
  17. Faces of Japan, Japanese Friendship Garden. If you like people watching and photography, visit this exhibit before it closes on the 27th!
