Here are 10 fun things to do in San Diego this weekend (July 13 and July 14, 2013):

  1. Celebrate Pride Weekend 2013! This is one of the best weekends of the year in San Diego so make sure you take part in some of the fun and fabulous festivities!
  2. Exhibits. Opening this weekend: Liza Lou: Color Field at Museum of Contemporary Art San Diego: Downtown and Hito Steyerl: Guards at Museum of Contemporary Art San Diego: Downtown. Closing this weekend: Celebrate the Horse at Fallbrook Art Center and PhotoArts Group Presents “America” at Spanish Art Village (Monday).
  3. Give ode to the insect at the Insect Festival 2013 all weekend. The San Diego Botanic Garden is hosting this annual event full of creepy crawly insects, crafts and experts (they aren’t too creepy).
  4. Fantasize about owning a Jaguar car at the Concours d’Elegance at Spanish Landing Park. It’s the 49th year of this Jaguar celebration presented by the San Diego Jaguar Club. See some really great cars on Sunday.
  5. Be part of history at the Festival of the Bells today thru Sunday. This event celebrates the oldest mission in California, the Mission Basilica San Diego de Alcala–it’s turning 244 this month. Food, entertainment, dance, the ringing of the bells and plenty of blessings await you.
  6. Play ball at the 60th Annual World Championship Over the Line Tournament this weekend and next…or get some sun and watch some great games. No B’s allowed at the tournament…so leave the babies, bottles and bikes at home…
  7. Watch some Padres baseball as they take on the Giants this weekend. While you’re downtown tomorrow, join in the 33rd Annual Padres Tailgate Party and Firefighter Chili Cookoff. Tickets to the party support our local firefighters and get you tickets to tomorrow night’s game!
  8. Enjoy Bastille Day with the International Cottages for Lawn Program on Sunday. The House of France hosts this shindig in Balboa Park with food, festivities and fun.
  9. Dance to the beat at the San Diego Reggae Fest on Saturday night. See, hear and dance to 6 different groups at the House of Blues (while donning your dreads and rasta colors of course).
  10. Follow the stars at the Southern California Astronomy Exposition on Saturday. Listen to cool lectures, see exhibitors and participate in raffles and the rummage sale.
